CO-VALUE is entering a pivotal phase with the launch of its citizen experimentation pilots, which will take place simultaneously in Alicante (Spain) and Emilia-Romagna (Italy). These pilots are designed to test participatory methodologies that bring together actors from across the quadruple helix—research, industry, public institutions, and civil society—to co-create solutions that respond to societal needs.

In Alicante, the experimentation will focus on two selected pilot projects: one in the field of circular economy and another centred-on impact technologies based on data. A series of focus groups and participatory workshops will be held between July and November 2025, involving citizens of different ages and backgrounds. These sessions aim to integrate social perspectives into innovation processes and support companies in developing citizen-driven solutions.

In parallel, Emilia-Romagna will implement a similar methodology, ensuring comparability across both territories. Two regional pilots will tackle innovation in healthcare and the future of personal drone mobility. Led by Fondazione Bassetti, the workshops will take place in Bologna’s innovation district and will use inclusive and forward-looking approaches such as human-centred design and anticipatory governance.

The dual experimentation process reinforces CO-VALUE’s commitment to inclusive innovation. By involving a wide range of stakeholders in neutral, collaborative environments, the project seeks to align technological development with community values and expectations—turning knowledge into impact through co-creation.
