Citizen Engagement for Knowledge Valorisation
ABOUT
If we want to transform research outcomes into sustainable products and solutions that benefit society, how can we make sure we are really meeting people’s needs? Researchers and innovators need to bring the public into the process.
CO-VALUE is a Horizon Europe project that aims to strengthen the role of society in knowledge valorisation. Over three years, our teams will experiment with ways people can be engaged to shape how value is created from research results, turning scientific knowledge into practical solutions that improve everyone’s lives.

OUR OBJECTIVES:
Valorisation
Valorisation
The overall objective of CO-VALUE is to boost how research results are taken up and deployed by adopting a co-valorisation approach. This approach strengthens the role of societal actors in knowledge valorisation and brings multiple stakeholders into publicly funded research from across the fields of civil society, research, industry and policy. The good practices and skills developed in CO-VALUE will be shared through a comprehensive scheme of capacity building, peer learning, and shadowing opportunities, both at the local and international levels.
ENGAGING CITIZENS
ENGAGING CITIZENS
Citizen participation is critical to knowledge valorisation. It's not just about consulting people, but actively engaging them in the process. This includes the general public, researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers working together.
Co-design
Co-design
CO-VALUE focuses on collaborative creation, experimenting with ways that a broad range of stakeholders can be engaged in shaping research and innovation outcomes. Through co-design, R&I makes the most of the wealth of diverse perspectives that citizens can bring.
Capacity building
Capacity building
What skills and resources are needed to equip Europe’s researchers and innovators so they are ready to engage? CO-VALUE explores the needs and barriers, and finds innovative ways to train and build capacity.
